humming sound from the engine

humming sound from the engine

at around 2500 -3500 rpms i hear this humming sound and it i only during that time. i would like to know if anybody has this problem and know if it is a serious problem thank u all in advance

What car and engine? Usually a noise that comes and goes isnt something internal to the engine. Most likely its a loose heat sheild or something like that.

is it a hum or a vibration?? as it only happens at 2k then its the later, check for loose piping AC/ power steering pipes/ engine covers

Also check your catalytic converter. It can rattle. Also check the heat shields around the cat and turbo.

my TT has this vibration/humming sound at the 2500 mark also. i know its the engine covers. i'm missing a lot of snaps to hold the covers down. does anyone know where I can get these snaps to replace?
