I think i did something bad coolent

Default I think i did something bad coolent

so yea i changed my turbo and put some orange dexcool in my car thinking it was the same thing but i just read something that says otherwise. i have a 99 audi a4.... If indeed this was a bad thing what should i do???

They say use OE spec G12 coolant from the dealer.

The other day I changed my coolant temp sensor and lost a bit of coolant, so I topped it off with Prestone Dexcool, the pink stuff. I don't think its a big deal.

read the bottle and if it says universal or for use in all cars then your good

the coolant has advance much more and has more new additives than what any anti freeze manufacuter has made in 99

but if it says for gm models only or something like that then it has an additive your car doesnt need and possibly damage it.

if so then drain it out and put good stuff in.

Only use g12. If you don't have g12, top it off with some distilled water until you can get some g12. If you combine g12 with other coolant it will coagulate and you will mess up the whole system. Drain it and put one or the other in.

so i could flush it and just run plain old green coolent?

yea, if you dont use the pink stuff from the dealer your coolant will turn to a gel
