Talking Idling Issues

Hello there Audi Team Mates,

Now, before I polish my spanners, don my overalls and open the Swarfega I'd like to tap into your expertise if I may.

I have an Audi A3 Turbo Sport 1.8. I'd left the car for a week and the battery completely drained because like a fool I'd left my SatNav plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Anyway, I took the battery out and charged it fully overnight. The battery was replaced the next morning and I took it for a spin. Initially, lots of warnings flashed up on the dash and the car stalled when I braked. I restarted the car and all the warning lights disappeared. However, I am still stalling when I brake as the car is really struggling to idle.

Does anyone have any idea whether this is to do with the battery episode of is it coincidental?

I'm not really going to polish my spanners; I'm a right girl and don't know the first thing about cars! I'm trying to gauge what sort of medical bill I'm going to have to pay when she goes to hospital.

Scan for codes? I'm fresh back from an all-nighter and am currently 'on one' dribbling and muttering inane nonsense - in a good way... what do you mean?

plug in a OBDII compliant code reader to the diagnostic port on your car and see what trouble codes are stored in the onboard computer. a VAG specific code reader is preferable as it is designed to talk to all the modules in the car but most auto parts stores will be able to use a generic reader to get the basic codes. write down what the codes are and post back and someone will decipher what they mean

-good luck
