Default Interior Light Fuse Keeps Blowing

Not sure if I will get an answer to this in this forum...new to this.

I have a 2001 A6 Avant.

I keep replacing the #14 fuse which controls the interior dome lights. When the fuse seems to be working my car functions fine.

When the fuse is blown....I have no interior lights, my dashboard computer only tells me that I have 3 doors ajar and my windows don't work.

I seem to have isolated the fuse blowing right after I have started the car, put it in gear and started along. I've replaced it 3 times now.

Any suggestions? Do I need a new fuse panel?

Unhappy Me too!

Wow my wife called me with the exact same problem in the 2001 A6 2.8L that we just bought.

If there is a quick fix for this it would be really helpful. Espesially since my wife is now questioning our "pricey" puchace.

Help,
Mike

I had the same exact problem in my 1999 a6 and finally fix the problem. It's underneath the seat some how a wire was grounding in the seat or under the seat. I moved the seat all the way forward then tilted the back part of the seat all the way forward. I moved the wiring around and then I put my hand behind the plastic molding behind the small light at the bottom of the seat. I then found the wire that goes to that light and gently moved it around to a diffrent position. I moved the seat back to it's normal position replaced the fuse and all of the problems stopped. It was that simple it freaked me out but its the wiring hope it works for everyone else.
