Default Intermittent Cut Out Driving me nuts!!

Hey all, can anyone help?
my A3 engine keeps cutting out intermittently. Battery's fine, fuel's fine.
Engine goes dead, but the electrics (lights, radio) still working.
On turning the ignition key, the engine turns over but won't fire.
After waiting 2 or 3 minutes, it starts up again, no problem, then cuts again a few minutes later.
It happens while moving and on ticking over.
Diagnostic computer shows no fault.
My first thought was fuel starvation but replaced the filter and no difference.
Needless to say, this usually happens right in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour!
Any ideas? At all?
Should I just increase my anti-depressants?
Thanks,
Jonno
