Default Key Programming with Vag-Com?

I am once and for all trying to program my damn remote again so I follow the write up here:
http://audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71439

Go to control module 35 for central locking. I go to adaptation 10 and go to channel 00 but it does not allow me to enter a new value. I then try to get to channel 01 and it says its not available. I look at 00 and appareantly there is no stored value? I am not allowed to enter in new values for some reason. Anybody have a clue?

Does it have something to do with logging in?

The following instructions are to reprogram your switchblade key fob.

1. Take a spare key and insert it into the ignition. Turn it one click forward.

2. Roll down your window just in case. Step outside the car, and lock the car with a second key.

3. With your second key fob press the unlock button. The lights should flash.

4. Now lock the car with the key fob, and then unlock it.

5. Remove the key from the lock and the key from the ignition, and try it's function

Default A3 FOB Programming

This procedure did not work on my 08 A3.
I am going to try the VAG route next.

And BTW, the procedure in the owner's manual did not work either!

Default VAG COM 2008 A3 Fob programming

All

I have tried every method I can find to program a second fob on our A3. None, including the Ross Tech instructions work.
The key was allegedly programmed by the dealership, and will start the car and manually lock things, but the convenience settings for the remote will NOT get progammed for this key.
They do work with our original key fob.
Perhaps this has to do with the particular model of Audi, but if anyone has been successful doing this, please advise.

thanks.
