Default Misfiring and fluid leak......

Was driving the other day and my engine started misfiring and the CEL came on. Went to autozone and had the code read, came back as po300 with misfiring in cylinders 1,3, and 4. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? I was thinking coils but the guy at autozone said he thought it may just be clogged injectors. He suggested running soom cleaner and go from there. I'm not sure I want to keep driving with it misfiring for fear of damaging the cat, not a repair bill I want or need! As for the leak, power steering leak...car was making loud whining noise so checked the fluid level, and as expected was low. Haven't gotten it looked at yet just been adding fluid as needed which wasn't that often until the last week or so, have started noticing smoke coming from under the right side of the hood and wheelwell and now have to add fluid everyother day. Guess I'll jack er up and take a looksey! Anyone tell me where the PS pump is located?

Use 11S P/S fluid only. The misfiring could be caused by spark plugs
or ignition coils.
I asume you have a 1.8T.

po300 is a random misfire code.

triggered whenever ANY cylinder misfires.

they're should be another code.

po301 for cylinder 1 thru po308 for cylinder 8 depending on your engine size.

and your injectors are fine. its a coil problem. factory coils have a problem w/ moisture getting inside. the replacements are upgraded.

and the most common power steering leak is the two hoses that connect to the cooler...

a lil info on what engine would help too...

and i'd check to see if your covered by warranty... Audi has a technical service bulletin out to automatically replace all coils under warranty depending on which engine and what year.

Yeah silly me...is a 03 a-4 3.0 quattro. Had the po300 code along with po301,03, and 04. Was driving in the big snow storm we had here in Cincinati last saturday when the misfiring first happened. My first thought was a coil problem, had the same problem occur with a previous car. Would moving the coils to other cylinders to see if the problem moves be a good idea? And yes I know to use only the steering fluid they sell at the dealership. Thanks for any help or advice guys.

don't even bother. i'm 99.9% sure its your coils. i change them daily.

gimme your VIN number and i'll look to see if the TSB covers your car. I can also check your warranty status if it doesn't.
