Default new here have questions

i have a 1998 a6 quattro with a fried ccm what exactly does it control and would it lead to overheating

No - the CCM is the comfort/convenience module. It controls windows, remote, locking, etc. A problem with overheating is completely separate.

ok thanks now i just need to find a new ccm and figure out what is causing it to overheat,any suggestions wud b greatly appreciated

It may not be overheated - it may have drowned. I don't know the CCM location in the A6, but in some of the Passat/A4 cars it's under the carpet in front of the driver seat. Blocked rain drains can cause water accumulation under the carpet and rot/ruin the CCM or its harness and connector. Best bet is to remove the CCM so you can inspect it for water damage and also get the part number. By searching eBay you may get lucky and score a replacement reasonably if the part itself is bad.

whats the difference between a letter c or letter j at the end of the model number for the ccm.wud either one work with my car.also any suggestions about what might be making my engine overheat or whats causing the gas odor in the car

so i had a new ccm installed and everything works but the car wont start now why is that any ideas
