I am an A8 owner, recently purchasing a 2004, and a big Audi fan. Can someone please help me?

At startup the message center in the instrument cluster is in French. During normal operation everything is in English, but any warnings are in French??? How can I change this to English. The MMI is all in English. I have tried to find it in the manual....to no avail.

During acceleration from a stop the trans seems to be hesitant, rough and shifts rapidly through third gear, then is very smooth. Is this normal??
