Default oil leak

Hello Members,
Got off work this morning started car in -2 degree temp, car sounded like running hard. Got on highway and noticed smoke in and out, by the time i got home noticed oil leaking in the front near the oil filter. Waited for things to settle and checked oil and its empty. 2000 A6 2.7T 95k miles automatic, only had a couple of weeks, any ideals???????

This might sound dumb, but did you check & see if the filter was tight?

Did you take the belly pan off & look, or are you just guessing where the leak is?

When was the last time you confirmed you had the proper level of oil? Belly pan gaskets go, valve cover gaskets go but not with quick loss. Check your pan and also check your coolant as to make sure your block is not cracked. Fill it with synthetic and get to the shop asap. If you lose the synthetic on the way the parts have a longer time to run with out seizing, but not too long.
