Had my 2002 A6 SE from new - always serviced, only ever had one problem - with a faulty coil-pack (a faulty batch as I remember) - until today....... car started fine but seriously misfired on revving the engine (the brake pedal seemed to be very stiff also) - then just pulling away when a rattly, graunchy sound from the the engine and it dies completely - stone dead. 20 minutes later car will start and sound very 'rattly' - as soon as I rev - it dies totally. No warning lights - all fluids look OK. The breakdown guy said 'Ouch' when he heard the noise and now I'm worried - anyone any ideas? only done 25k in 5 years - so hardly done enougn driving to wear anything out!
