2002 A4 quattro B6 1.8T tiptronic

Hi,
Given all the problems associated with the oil pick-up screen clogging on the 1.8T, I was wondering what the consequences of removing the screen (so it CAN'T clog) would be. Would the oil filtercatch any gunk passing through the motor before it had a chance to wreak too much havoc? Would it be better to let the crap flow through a little bit before the filter caught it than to risk the screen clogging and losing oil pressure?

i haven't seen any problems w/ oil pickup tubes...
