Sad Owner of very poorly A4 Quattro - bfb/avj confused!
52 plate
A4 T Sport
1.8T manual
87000 miles
Quattro
engine BFB
firstly may i apologise for my lack in technical understanding etc so i shall try to explain as technically as i can!
I bought my car new in oct 2002, cherished her for all these years.. sadly, lent her to a pal last year that ignored warning signs and a failed oil pump brought her to her knees
Her autopsy revealed a hole in the bottom end ... so new heart defo required. I have been trying to source a used BFB engine for many months now and still no joy.. i have tho infact found an AVJ engine finally although it needs a new head!
my questions are...
1. my engine is BFB .. will AVJ fit and what are the differences?
2. can i use the head on my BFB to replace the head on the AVJ (if it can be used)?
3. is it possible to recon the engine or is it beyond resurrection?
If anyone can shed any light or assist me in my complete confusion i would greatly appreciate it!! Just want to get her up and running again in the most cost effective but correct way possible.
thanks again
