When starting my 97 A4, the trip counter below the odometer shows the following: 'In 1'
This goes away after around 30 seconds and returns to the electronic counter.

Does anyone know what this is?
It has been occuring for around 1 week now.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

i think it has to do w/ the inspection due... your owners manual should state for sure

 

As "tHe kNiGHt FaLL" said, it could mean service inspection is due > ' in 1 K miles ' (1000 M ).

 

The "1" refers to the kind of service due (what needs to be done), not that it is due in 1k miles.

its a service light telling you the millage is coming up to change the oil&filter you need the diagnostic tool to reset it
