Time for new Timing Belt?
Hi am am new around here and to Audi!
Just bought a new old 1994 100 CS with 125K. Car is in great shape. Trans fluid is dirty, and few other small maintenace issues. My mechanic Goltz motors, could not figure out if timing belt had been done. We do not know the original owner. Anyway to figure this out???
Thanks, Matt

You may be able to track down previous owners thru the department of motor vehicles. If they looked at the belt and couldnt tell if it was new, your best bet would probably be to replace it.
So....
I had the work done, to a note of $1400, hard to swallow for a car that I paid $3600 for.
1) All maintenace except for a repair of the passengerside door latch which my mechanic was able
to soak and get working again 150
2) Lube, oil and filter 30
3) Brake fluid changed 110
4) Service trans,Trans Fluid changed 200
5) Timing Belt changed, when they got in there they had to replace tension assembley and Idler pulley and roller 650
6) Replace and repair crank pulley and seal (small oil leakage) 55.
I guess I got a great car for $5000, outstanding condition. I hope $$$$$ spending this is not a pattern.
Are these prices reasonalbe?
