Default Timing belt loose!

So I have a 2001 Audi tt with 140,000 miles on it the previous owner said the belt was changed at 90k so I popped of the cover as far as I could which wasnt that far enough to see the top of the belt it looked alright but It was loose enough for me to slide it on the gear with one finger I limped it home very worried and then checked it again and it was tight? The car was cold when I check it the first time if that might have anything to do with it I have no idea when I drive normal the car kind of jerks back and forth some one please help is it safe to drive?

Major EFF-up potential with a loose timing belt. I'd have it checked to make sure it is timed correctly. It can be off a tooth or so either way and not bend valves but it sounds like it might be slightly out of time.
