So I have a 97 A4 2.8 5spd and i have this weird clunking when under a load, I went to a local Audi shop today and they said it could be my timing tensioners an they wanted $700.00 do do the repair. They also told me that I couldnt do it myself unless I had the tool to lock both cams while doing the job. Also they said that I need to run my car on synthetic oil cause that may be the source of the problem (which I think is BS). I know it needs synthetic but I doubt that is he source of the noise. Can someone please fill me me in, I am new to euro imports and this is all going over my head. So if someone has had the same problem please fill me in.
