Default tranny slipping... help

so i know this is an audi forum but i believe that audis are alot like volkswagen so i wanted to just give this a shot. i have a 2000 vw cabrio and had the tranny changed. now every once in a while when i move from a dead start the tranny slips to about 2000 rpms and just kicks back in gear. the car is an automatic by the way. any help from you guys would be so appreciated. thanks

Sounds like either torque converter not being able to generate enough force (possible low transmission fluid) or transmission fluid not warmed up enough or transmission may simply be due.

My .02c, get a transmission flush. Not a drain, then top off. Get a transmission flush. This is the only way to really get everything out of the system or get closer to letting all the fluid go and then replacing it.

In other gears, do you feel like giving a little bit of gas but not really getting a response?

Could be numerous things, but I would definitely check the transmission fluid. If your VW is anything like our Audi's, its not easy to check, and it is even harder to fill. Audi A4's dont have a dipstick. Good Luck

I heard that the tranny should NOT be flushed. Checking the fluid is not that hard but it must be done at the proper temperature. Do a quick google search for ATF change on a VW and you should find a helpful DIY.

yea i agree that the tranny shouldn't be flushed especially with this car because i have heard that these trannys are sealed units. but im hoping that when this was swapped out into this car some fluid was lost and it just needs to be topped off. thanks for the help guys. i really appreciate it.

Yeah, definitely check the fluid level.
