V6 Air Flow meter

V6 Air Flow meter
I'm told that a faulty air flow meter (MAF?) could be the cause of my A4 overheating. I have error code 15.1 (air flow flap motor potentiometer, static open - digital value is internally programmed for limp-home mode). I wouldn't have thought the air flow meter could affect the engine temp. Does anyone know otherwise? All the usual suspects have been eliminated as possible causes - 'thermostat, gauge, w/pump, head gasket. It's a '98 V6

RE: V6 Air Flow meter
error code 15.1?? Standard fault codes are 5 digits.
Air flow flap motor potentiometer would be a climate control fault, and should read like this:
00604 - Potentiometer Positioning Motor for Air Flow Flap (G113)
Who is working on your car? I would be afraid...
