i happened to find a usb to obd2 cable and vag-com software for a laptop on ebay. It says that it will not work with can-bus cars. what cars are equipped with the can-bus computer systems. Your vehicle uses can bus. Actually it has two can busses. ONe for powertrain and one for convienience.

 

I need some help with vag com too.
I bought a usb cable on ebay but can't figure out what software and driver to download from ross-tech.

99.5 a4, 1.8t, tip, fwd.

Pretty much any of the software should work on your car. Ultimatly the software and drives are matched to the cables and not the car thou.
