I just bought a 2007 A4 Cabriolet with 3.2v6 and quattro. It has MMI, navigation, and multifunction steering wheel. Everything in the car seems to work great, including bluetooth to my motorola Razr V3 phone (shows the address book on the dashboard, controlled by buttons on the steering wheel, etc). The only thing that doesn't seem to work is the button for voice recognition. When I push it nothing happens. I've tried everything I can think of, read the manual a dozen times, even looked at the video demonstration from the Audi web site. Still don't have a clue why it doesn't work. The manual says there should be a tone when you push it, but I don't get one. I've ignored that fact, and tried to speak "radio", "phone", "telephone", etc, and nothing happens.

Any suggestions (besides "take it to the dealer")? I am going to take it in for regular service, but I don't want to find out that there's a simple explaination and I'm doing something wrong.

There is something wrong with the button in the steering wheel or something isn't coded correctly, sorry to say it but take it to the dealer, its under warranty.

 

OK will do. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a simple solution, like turning something on in the user interface (although I searched it pretty thoroughly).

Dealer says it's the switch in the steering wheel. They can't get the switch by itself, so they are getting me a new steering wheel. Thankfully it's under warranty!! If that turns out NOT to be the problem I will let you know.

Everything is covered that is electronic related under factory warranty, don't worry about it.
