Week in the shop, A4 still won't start, missing parts, ??
Hi all, new member here
Would rather be posting on a better note but I'm having some issues with my 98 a4 2.8 quattro.
Short story:
Drove it 1600 miles in 2 days
Car wouldn't start next day
Shop says its timing belt issue
Timing belt supposedly replaced
Week later car still won't start
Engine cover installed incorrectly
Engine cover clip missing
Plastic panel cracked
Radiator installed incorrectly
What to do???
Long story:
Drove it from Florida to Wisconsin over two days, no real problems. 75k miles but the car drives with a bit of... character. Parked it, left it alone for the night and it wouldn't start the next day. Took it to my local shop, they ran some diagnostics, said the timing belt was messed up, blah blah blah.
A week later, today, I go back there after the mechanic said he was driving it around 'getting rid of air pockets' but when I show up the car still won't start, sounds exactly like it did before while trying to start AND the engine cover panels are all uneven, missing a clip, one of the plastic panels on the front end is now cracked, the radiator is installed uneven.
Now the guys trying to tell me it could be some other issue ($$$) but I really just want it OUT of that shop and into better hands.. or be patient enough until it warms up here so I can work on it myself.
My question is, basically, what do you think some of my options are? Its been a week the thing still wont start and they put it back together horribly and lost one of the cover clips.
Would really appreciate any advice!
