weird starter problem

97 A4 1.8 5 speed, turn key does nothing, battery/starter good, can bump start and drive all day! Help!

How did you test the starter? Could be the ignition switch, thats a common failure.

I second that. I had the same problem with my A6.

I put power direct to starter andit turns over, I was gonna check the starter relay tommorrow then I guess the ignition switch
