What can cause a timing belt to skip
2007 A4 2.0T
So my cars timing belt (skipped - i guess) and my car basically shut off and thankfully didnt get into an accident as i used the momentum of the car to cross a five lane highway to a full stop on the shoulder.
Car has 142k miles and replaced engine and timing belt in 2014. So maintenance wise it wasn't an issue. Timing belt should have lasted until 210k or so.
Nonetheless, before this incident occured we drove about 1000 miles over a span of few days. Along the way we did hit a small rock so was hoping Geico would somehow cover it (they aren't because they dont believe the rock caused it). So I couldve sold the car for $4000-5500 (was up for sale) and now I can barely get $300 from a junkyard. Horrible turn of events but just wondering what in the world could've caused this to occur and can I go after Audi of America or something? Or somehow get Geico to pay up?
