Wich is faster in a A6 2.8L with 30v or 1.8 turbo? I'm looking at 98-2001 models

 

in stock form the the 2.8 30v because it is a bigger displacement engine pushing out 190hp. the 1.8t is a smaller engine with an output of 150hp or 180 depending on the years. but then again you can tune the 1.8t to rediculous power levels thanks to a turbocharger.

 

The 2.8 in the A6 puts out 200 hp and 207 ft/lbs. The A6 is not available with a 1.8. Th3 3.0l is will out perform the 2.8.

 

Oh i didnt read the a6 part, but yeah a6xlr8s is right the a6 didnt come with a 1.8t, the models your looking for came with either a 2.8 30v making 200 hp or the 2.7t out of a B5 s4 making 250hp. get the 2.7t, very nice car.

 

2.7t is a great motor

 

i would steer clear of a 2.7t if it is an older vehicle espiecially with higher miles for two reasons. you have no idea how previous owner drove the vehicle, with the turbos you really have to baby them, and the fact that most 2.7t come in stick, with high miles = new clutch / transimission down the road == BIG $$$

 

Most A6's ive seen with the 2.7t came with tip. ive only seen one with a 6 speed.
