2006 A6 Won't start
Hey all, I just bought a 2006 A6 about 45 days ago and love it. BUT twice now it just won't start.
First time, I called and they said it was the battery, So i replaced that, but it still didn't start... then after it got towed, it just started without a problem. Then tonight it did it again.
When I put the key in and turn just nothing, I dont even hear the engaging happening that I normally hear.
any help would be great, the guy I was referred to told me he thought the whole steering column needed to be replaced for $2400... seems a bit extreme?

First: Wilkommen to the forums!
Second: You will probably get more views/responses if you post in the A6 section.
Third: "they said it was the battery", who exactly is "they" and why did they say it was the battery? Did "they" have the car at the time? Were "they" just guessing?
"the guy"? "thinks"? "whole steering column"?! It is possible that you need a new ignition switch. Not a whole new steering column. But that is just one of many things that can lead to a "no start" situation that you describe. Probably the first thing that "we" will suggest is that you have it scanned for codes (VAGCOM preferably). Then we can go from there. Next check your fuses (fuel pump relay). Things tend to get complicated from there.
good luck
I almost the whole thing
