I stopped off a highway, went around the A4 Avant to check
the back while the engine was running.
The drivers door suddenly shut with a gust of wind and
the car went click. Keys in the ignition, car running
and I am on the outside freezing cold.
Has this ever happened to anyone?

That's what the manual says.
This car of mine has a mind of its own.
Sometimes the remote works other times not.
Then the seat heats up.

It is a brand new 2005 2.0 Avant, handles like a dream but
hoo, boy! spooky.

Not good for a female driver to drive such an unpredictable car.

I am glad I only leased it for 3 years. Next time I might consider
another German make.

I was with a friend when that happens, and noted my car locks after a certain amount of time, so whenever I get out with the engine running, instead of leaving the door open, I roll down the driver's window.

 

Welcome to the Forums... Thats odd that the door just locked at random. I've shut my door w/engine running on several ocassions and this never happened to me. Once the car sets in motion then the locks activate. Hopefully by now, you've accessed your car and enroute to the dealership to have them fix those heated seats and replace the battery in your remote.

 

I've always had to lock my doors myself when I get in and start driving. What year did they start the auto lock feature? My VR6 was a 2001 and it would lock after 5 mph. Should my 2001 A6 lock automatically or is something wrong with it?
