I have a 2001 a6 quatro 4.2

Car runs and drives really good except the tranny is messed up. From 0 to 20mph (or so) it is very sluggish, revs pretty high. Once I am going above 30 it goes no problem, well not as fast as it should. I am wanting to fix it with income tax but will like to tear it apart and see exactly what is broken so I hopefully dont have to buy a whole new tranny. Any ideas on what could be the problem????

I have already taken it to audiealership and confirmed it wasn't just the control module.

 

Just chucking it out there, but the tranny might be slipping getting from 1st to 2nd gear. I have an automatic mazda, no problem on mine, but similar issues have crept on on a friends auto.

The gear linkage might be in a questionable state. Again, pulling from the Mazda and other car world, don't know about audi on this, but you might want to you a vagcom scanner and see if the tranny is throwing any codes.

I am a week away from buying an A6 2.8L Avant Auto for my wife. Killer price we got it for.
