Extend Warranty or Not
Hi to All,
I have been a proud owner of a Passat 1.8T for the pass 14 yrs with very few problems; it now has 127K. Most work on it has been performed by me and totaling no more than 300.00 at any given time. Recently I decided to buy an 2006 A4 2.0TQ with 85K; Got service records the car has been very well cared for. The timing belt and waterpump has been recently changed. I have about 2.5 months left on the warranty. Should I buy an extended warranty or not; if so what third party warranty company would you recommend. I have talked to a few that range from 2500.00 - a ridiculous 7500.00 at 3yrs B2B or 5yrs DT.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
Thanks

I bought the extended warranty on my 2011 S5. It was only $2800 for a comprehensive b2b which added 36 months and 24,000 miles on top of the factory warranty. I figured it to be a worthy investment only because the used car I bought had a virtually nonexistent history...which means that I should be prepared for underlying problems to emerge...
It gives a reasonable amount of peace of mind, just know its limitations more than what it covers...but for the huge stuff, most likely it'll kick in and pay for itself (should you be so unfortunate as to encounter a crippling issue)

Thanks East. Given my time constraints, I think the extended warranty is the way to go. The last thing I need is a paper-weight parked in my driveway. BTW nice set of wheels you got there. I love the A5, but with our 4th child on the way, the only A5 I will see is...A5 bedroom house and A5 + 2 passenger vehicle...Q7 perhaps if you catch my drift.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
