Getting ready to purchase my first (used) A4.
So i'm looking at purchasing a 1999 A4 Avant 1.8t Quattro with right around 144k on the ticker. During the test drive two things are kind of apparent. It seems slightly underpowered. Not at all like any of the 1.8t Jettas i've driven. And during hard braking or cornering the oil lights are coming on. The dealership just addresses both of these problems as "age". Any suggestions before i take the plunge?
If the dealership is dismissing these problems as to "old age" I'd never buy any car from them, ever.
140K+ miles is nothing for an Audi...heck they are just past the break in period.
Seriously, a car with that few many miles should still drive, and perform like new.
Mine has 250,000+ miles, and still pulls like it always has...and no oil lights go off.
There's soo many B5 A4's out there, wait for a good one.
