Hello from this newbie....
Hi, I just found this place and it's not a moment too soon. I've had 3 Audis so far and have loved them all, but this weekend I had a very bad experience.
I was driving in the rain and hit a large puddle which stalled my car. I tried to restart it with no luck. I had it towed home, let it dry out and finally got it to turn over yesterday. It sounded so bad that I shut it right off, but I was too late. I guess some water was in the engine and ruined it.
It's now at the dealer, but they say it'll be weeks before they can even look at it. I'm stunned to say the least. I've never known a car to be so vunerable to water. I wasn't trying to ford a stream or drive through deep water. To have lost a new S4 with just over 10K on it is a shock indeed. If anyone has any advice I'd welcome it.
Other than that sad tale... uh HELLO!

Well hello! this forum is fun we are very laid back and we like to pick on each other from time to time.
As for your car is sounds hydrolocked. are you using the stock intake? cuz this shouldnt have happened, unless the puddle was 6 feet deep.

David, Thanks for the info... This car is an 04 S4 Avant that is totally stock. I was driving on a very rainy night, but did not see the water before driving thru it. There was enough water to slow the car down from 30 mph, but I've been through that kind of stuff before with no problem. As I said, I was just driving carefully along. I didn't try to ford a stream or pass through a flooded area. To have a car so damaged by this is a real shock. I hope things can work out, but right now it looks grim to say the least.
I don't think it was anywhere near that deep. I could feel it splash in the wheel wells and underneath, but I don't think it was more than a couple of inches at best. It didn't look like standing water, it was just one of those times that you hit a puddle and feel it on the underside of the car. The road did not look flooded at all. That's why I'm so surprised that this happened.
Hmmmm.....then im not sure its hydrolocked. Your a pretty conservative driver, no? As soon as you went through this puddle it locked up, you say? Man, i am stumped. I will work on this; there are a couple of people i will talk too.
