Talking Hi! Possible noob here with some questions

Hey everyone! Hopefully will be a regular on here soon. I possibly might be getting a 99 a4 1.8t, stick, w/ 187,000 miles for a trade for my yfz 450. From the pics, the car looks to be in pretty good shape inside and out. Going to check it out this week. Question is, how many miles are you guys/gals seeing out of these? He received it from his aunt a yr ago and says he has all documents of work that was done. The clutch, timing belt and thermostat was just replaced 5k miles ago.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Willkommen to the forums!

well, these are great cars, and will pretty much keep going indefinitely as long as you are willing/able to put the time and money into keeping them maintained. for the car your referenced, manual trans is definitely a plus. Timing service done recently is also a plus. be sure to spend some time reading up in the A4 section. Pay close attention to the stickies. bear in mind that a 13+ year old car with 187K miles is bound to show some wear and tear. as long as it has been maintained well prior to your acquisition, and you keep up with care and maintenance, you should not have any problems. just be sure to take care of any little issues or they will become big issues

good luck

have fun
