Unhappy im really stuck and need serious help

last month i bought an A4 1.9 TDi (the I is red) and within a few days it started running lumpy and only on 3 cylinders but then it went back to runing on all 4. This happend again and again dropping to 3 and picking up again. so i talked to a few people and they gave me ideas of what to check including injectors heater plugs fuel filter and followers. After checking all these i found thet the timing belt had a split in it so i set about changing it ( the front of car off etc) as ive learnt over years of bad experiences i ignored all timing marks on sprockets and on the cover and went off the audi 1s i lined the camshaft and pinned it at the gearbox end using a flat piece of steel i pinned the pump cog with the largest drill bit i could fir in and the crank was lined up using the 0 on the flywheel (visible through inspection hole) i then set about turning the engine over by hand to make sure things were fine and yeah they were but as i tried to start the car it didnt run just turned over and over until the oil warning light came on ive checked the oil its fine and now i am at a loss on what to do the timing seems right its been checked and triple checked but the car will not start does anyone have any ideas or had the same problem before.

Welcome to the board I am new as well that was one really long sentence I've never had the same problem but I hope you get the answer you are looking for here on this forum there seems to be a good amount of mechanically inclined individuals that should be able to help you may need to just post in the DIY or A4 sections and you may receive better feedback good luck!
