Just bought an A4!
Hey everyone. Glad i stumbled upon these forums. As of this afternoon, i'm the proud owner of a 1999 A4 Avant 1.8T Quattro.
I've only been driving it for less than a day and i love it already. It's a hibiscus red 5 speed with 128k miles, hopefully i'll be adding many many more. It runs great and everything electrical is in nearly perfect working order. Purportedly, all the repairs thus far have been done by Berge volkswagen in mesa, az and everything that's been replaced is OEM.. seems like a solid, well-maintained car, so i guess i'm good to go!
So basically, i've got a stock A4 wagon to have fun with. Unfortunately, I'm a college student with no garage, tools, or floor jack to help me work on this beast. I'm not an idiot when it comes to cars by any means, but i am new to doing mods and DIY stuff. So my question is, where should i begin? What are some relatively cheap and easy mods that i can/should perform before i get into the more technically complex and expensive upgrades?
I'm not looking to build a race car. I just want to add a few more HP, maybe improve its handling, and make it sound/look nice while still retaining the reliability and gas mileage that i require in a daily driver.
Thanks in advance! Can't wait to get started.

welcome, and I think you are the first person in a while who actually read that post.
Asfor your question, you should look into a chip for your car (that will give you a good amount of HP increase for the money spent), and then you can also look into an intercooler.
If you want more ideas, head to the A4 section and at the top you will see a thread that says newbies/ or newb/ r something like that guide to A4's that should help you tremendously.

Here she is. A few nicks here and there, and a bit of wavy sheet metal on the bottom of the back right door from a minor sideswipe, but i can deal with that. You can't notice unless you're up really close. Besides I got a really good deal on it.

Thanks for your compliments. i've been looking for a good wagon because it will be better for snowboard trips, and this one even has the cold weather package. pretty good find.
I worked hard to save up for it, and it's the first car i've owned that isn't an embarassing piece of crap. It's a good feeling!
