Looking to buy A4 - Need advice
For the past couple of years I have drooled over Audi's. I currently drive a little '02 Civic DX with minor mods (intake/headers/exhaust all installed by me) and I just want more - besides the fact that Audi's are damn sexy.
There's a guy who sells Audi's/BMWs/etc near where I live and he usually has one or two of them in his little lot and sells them at a great price with lifetime brakes/3yr warranty, then there is a dealer in my town that has quite a few but I believe may charge a bit more for them than what they are worth. I haven't gone there since they turned to an Audi dealer, but hope to maybe this weekend.
On my way to work today I saw a '96 A4 2.8 for sale on the side of the road. Sign says needs to replace power steering rack and visual inspection looks a little beat-up, but is selling for only $1,500. Seems as if a replacement from steal-ership will cost around $1200-$1800 w/ labor. Searched here and found that a remanufactured one only costs $350, plus whatever for labor. Also, read directions and doesn't seem TOO hard (has anyone done this with good outcome?)..
Now, I really wanted the 1.8t but for $2000-$2500 for the 2.8 I'm wondering if it is worth it? What do you guys think?
