Motor r&r TT quatro 2001 model
I decided to try an engine swap in my TT. Wee, Frunk! Wow! first of all I had to pull the whole front clip. Next I found the turbo bolts are a T15, even snap on only has T14 and T16. Fruck. Drilled it today. I used 12 point on first bolt, Craftsman extractor on second bolt, and a specialty tool called Dermal on third bolt. If any one needs help on a 1.8 TT R&R, It's easy; Buy a Ford and figure that piece of junk out. I have a rod that dam near sliced the block in 1/2 on #4.
Any how, I am almost there and have a block with 85k from an A4 I scored for $300.
Please note that the crank on a standard is different than an auto. The bore is not there for a pilot bearing on an auto and there is a tapered end on a standard the stands out.
