Default New A6 Owner with issues

I am a newbie and I feel so ripped off right now. Please help if you can. I just got a 2000 A6 4.2 last week and this morning the check engine light came on. I went to the used car dealer and he said that the light came on because I put gas in the car with the engine running. Could someone tell me if that is true?

'thanks

That is probably not the case. They are trying to BS you. I would tell them that they need to fix the problem or have it fixed somewhere before you take it. Every state has a lemon law. Don't let it go any longer than you have to. It could be any number of problems. You can take it back up to a certain number of days depending on the state you are in. You should take it to an auto parts store tomorrow and have your codes read for free.

Thanks a lot, that really helps. I am going to go to the auto parts store and see what they say. Then I will go back to the dealer.

Thanks a million

I would call before you go, just to make sure but Autozone should let you use their Vag tool for free. When you get the codes, post them here and we'll tell you what is going on with it.

No problem. I am going to do that tomorrow morning. I will post the results. Also I forgot to mention that there was also a light that came on by the odometer. It had a little number 1 and MPH in a circle. It kept blinking but then after a while it stopped.
