newbie A4 question
Hey guys, recently I have gotten my last car stolen. Most would be bummed but I always look at the positive in negative situations. For me, it gave me a chance to actually look into purchasing a car I have always admired. The Audi A4.
So now the questions come into play. First I have always just admired the look an the handling, couple of my old co-workers had them. But I never got too technical with them, atm I'm looking into a 2003-2005 A4, depending on whatever further research I find. So my main questions are, what kind of avg miles/price should I be looking for within these cars just to know I'm not totally getting ripped off?
Also, what kind of things should I be looking for when purchasing these cars? I read something about their timing belts? How much would it cost me to replace these, and how much should they affect my overall decision when buying? Any other common problems that should be easily fixed, or should avoid if necessary?
Thank you for whatever advice anyone offers, I figured I'd post this while doing little bit of other research while I'm at work. Btw I'd found sites including BlueBook that state TMV is around 9k, but most dealers are almost 3-4k more, does that leave room for negotiating or? Also I prefer AWD over FWD, which I believe is the Quattro.

This thread would probably get better responses in higher traffic sections such as Off-Topic.
First of, I would like to welcome you to AF.
I believe you'll be looking at the B6 model which started from 2002 up to 2005. However, there are some 2005.5 out there that has a different body style (the B7).
The mileage for these cars can really vary. All in all, it's really up to you which mileage you prefer. Timing belt should be replaced around 80K miles or less. It shouldn't really be a problem except how much the job costs compared to other cars. The prices of a timing belt job can vary from 500-1000+. Labor is usually what kills it since half of the front end needs to be taken off to replace the TB.
You also need to decide which engine you prefer. The two engines available (at least in the States) are the 1.8T and 3.0. The 1.8T being the most mod friendly out of the two but (arguably) the 3.0 being more reliable due to not having any forced induction.
