Default Noob hello and question

HEY!

About a year ago I rolled my 04 325 on 128 in Peabody, Ma... bought a Lincoln LS after thinking I was getting a good deal... it's a piece of junk.

Fast forward a bit my soon to be sister in law inherits a 98 Audi Cabrio black on black with 65k and the previous owner just did the timing belt pulley tires etc and since she doesn't want it said she'd sell to me for 3500.

So im going to buy it.

Looking at reviews and such it seems the belt is the BIG issue these cars and then looks like the standard: ball joints, window regulators etc... but the thing is those are both common problems for my old BMW (RIP Reggie!) AND for my current Lincoln (along with a host of other "common" problems... coils, leaky sunroof etc)

Im looking for some info… I’ve never been a big Audi guy before so Im definitely a noob but I learn quick. I know the 98 is a B5 but whenever I look into things like Rims etc they never list the Cabrio as an option just the A4. Should I look under the assumption that the Cabrio is the exact same as a 98 A4 with a removable roof even though they aren’t called an A4 vert until 99?

Big thing is rims I want some black BBS style rims but I saw one thing saying the vert is a 4 bolt while all the other Audi wheels are 5.

Thanks for the help. I’ll be on here much more. Any advice you can give me I will gladly take (especially if it’s a RUN THE F AWAY FROM THAT CAR!) while I am a noob here I was very active on my old BMW forum and while not great at it and avid DIYer!

PS- Also anyone with any good suggestions for local tuners in the Boston North Shore area. I was spoiled by having Turner BMW a short pretty 30 minute drive away but again I don’t know anything about Audi’s… yet.

PPS- Oh and suggestions of local shops/advanced DIY members with good rates to do the stuff I just can’t do… always appreciated!
