i just looked at my old invoice from Meineke... the parts for my rotors seem really high, i should have just stuck with regular metallic brake pads at the time... my bill was around $1k also...

 

Buy the parts from www.blauparts.com, I found mine for $99-$140 dollars for the back end and $150-$199 for the front end. That means that if I do the job myself it shouldnt cost me more than $400 including incidentals. saves you 60%. Did the stealer tell you wich end was the worst? you could probably do one set first and then the other later.
