Soon to be A4 owner with some questions
I'm currently on the market for an A4 B6 model and I was just wondering what all I should be checking when looking at them. I'm just getting it as a car to drive back and forth to work to save gas so I'm not spending too much. I found one that seems decent that I am going to look at tomorrow. Here are the ad details:
2002 Audi A4 w1.8T with Sun roof 149,000 miles. New transmission put in at 98,000 miles. Below is list of upgrades/ repairs.
New turbo kit put in at 135,000 miles
New Control Arms and bushings at 130,000 miles
Brakes recently replaced with rotors at 120,000 miles
Sun roof switched replaced.
Water pump replaced at 100,000 miles
Spark plugs and timing belt replaced at 100,000 miles
New Fuel Filter Installed at 120,000
They are asking $5500 OBO. Does this seem like a good deal if I could get it for under $5k?

there are a lot of variables that go into pricing on used vehicles. A lot depends on demand and location in your area. if it is worth it to you, than it is worth it.
Audi maintenance costs are higher than average. If you just need a knock around daily driver, you might want to look for a true beater.
spend some time in the A4 section. read the stickies. that will give you an idea of what kinds of things to look for. bottom line is that if something "feels" wrong to you, it probably is. a well maintained car should look well maintained.
good luck

Don't buy an Audi if you want it as a daily driven car. You will have major issues. Especially an Audi with 50,000 miles or more. Audis look good that's all it is. Get yourself a Toyota if you don't want the headaches of getting repairs.
