im really lookin hard at parts to upgrade my car.....ive been lookin at boost controllers and chips and whatnot but im not sure what would be best

so basically i just want to know whats the best thing i can do for the least amount of money that will give me the most power and still keep my engine reliable?

and what stock parts i'd have to replace...like a wastegate or somthing

btw i've got a 1999 A4 1.8T tiptronic quarto

Do noy get a boost controler you will have nothing but problems you have a very tunable engine start with a chip and DV work your way up and get a Tip chip reduse your shift time and then you acn look into some exhausts to help your car breath better all this mods are relible

As above...
Check the archives on this.

Get a good DV (no need to pay through the nose though) and install it before you plan on increasing boost.

yesterday i went to the garage where the person i bought the car from said he allways went, i asked them about a possible chip and they took my information and called back. they said it would be $900 for the chip that would boost me to about 200 HP, the guy i was talking to said that chip was the only one that he would put in his car, i believe it was made my Oct? or O.T., somehting like that. I knew that i had seen other chips qouting the same performance increase for about $400, so i went to the ARP website and contacted the dealer closest to me. They wroote back and said about $450 including installation for a chip that would also bost me to 200 HP. Then i wrote them back and asked them for an updated qoute with the stock parts that would have to be upgraded, like the DV and still havn't heard back. i might go check my local Audi dealership today to see what they can do for me.

Does that price difference sound right to you guys?

Suggestions?

APR is the best way to go if you are debating between the two makers. APR's reputation is solid and their service is well documented. The price is right. Get an Audi upgraded DV if you don't want to pay extra bucks for an aftermarket version.
The Audi 710N is the cheapest yet reliable upgrade (Audi part# 06A-145-710-N).

thanks for the part number, thats gonna really help man! im glad you suggested APR too, because they are the shop that i could drive to because i dont really wanna go take the ECU outta my car and ship it. But that DV is pretty cheap are you sure that it'll be okay once i get the car chipped?

Now ive just gotta save the money [&o]

I'll PM an article I wrote on the subject. Read it before you make any more decisions on DV's.

A boost controller will help eliminate boost spikes (if you buy a good quality electronic one) whereas a chip has no defence against boost spike.
