Default 100k how much longer will it go?

Last week I hit 100,000 miles on my '99 A6 Avant 2.8 QT. How much longer do you think it will last? Or better question; is worth sinking any $ into. Anybody got one with 150k or more?

Long as you maintain it right (oil changes, timing belt, etc), it's got a lot of life left. My 30v engine is the same as yours, I'm at 185k, and it's as healthy as ever. I'm very strict on maintenance and it pays off. You're fine and have lots of miles to come yet.

hmm, assuming you take care of it, another 200K miles or more.

I'd say another 10 miles.

Kidding.

I've seen many Audis hit up 200,000+ miles.

Maintain it and don't beat on it, you're looking at least another 150,000 miles.

300K would be a typical service life for these cars, without an engine rebuild or swap. With proper maintenance and care, you could surely hit the million mile mark.

Wow, I had no idea these engines had such long lives, I guess my next car will be electric.

Oldest 2.8L engine i have seen was a 12V with 525,000 miles on it, never been rebuilt. They go quite a while. If you do your oil changes/maintenance there is no telling how long it will go. I did a CLT (cylinder leakdown test) on a 30V 2.8L at around 200,000k on the clock and it had less than 4%, thats better than some chevy engines brand new! So hopefully that gives you an idea.
