i'm down in vincennes, SW part of the state. I'll be traveling to fort wayne this fall-winter couple times a month for work, will use a rental car tho, free credit card points FTW.

I think i'll just keep my p6 this winter then buy a summer tire next year to use.

Thanks for the info, though I'm not sure what you mean by "you'll ONLY get about a year of practical use out of thhem". Surely you don't mean that the tread will only last a year with regular driving...

I'm leaning towards the Falkens 512's - they seem like the most practical choice...
Well, it depends very much on teh speed rating you roll with, but, actually, yes, that's what I mean. But I tend to push my tires slightly harder than average. You must understand that tires with higher speed ratings tend to have shorter road lives. Higher speed ratings tend to be a by-product of softer compounds, which means that they wear sooner. If you are a gentle driver you'll prolly want "H-rated" compound which should translate to something closer to 40,000-50,000 miles. Me, I go with "W" or "Z," which means 30,000 miles TOPS. Since I routinely drive approx 35,000 miles/year, I get about a year.*, **, ***

*actual mileage may vary
**void where prohibited
***DON'T drive like ME, I avg 1 speeding ticked every two years[8D]

Check out the Avon's from tirerack. I've only heard good things about them, and they are cheap.
