Ask a Police Officer Thread Ver. 2

Them VA boys don't mess around.
True story
They pulled over a convoy of our fully marked county police cars on their way to Katrina to help out the victims. They wanted to issue our officers tickets because they were driving in the fast lane of the highway with some slow moving vehicles. Luckily higher ranks finally showed up and discussed it with our higher ranks, but it NEVER should have even been an issue.

Yes it should have been an issue. If a civilian would have been ticketed for it, so should any police officer. A badge shouldn't give you the right to violate traffic laws regardless if you're on duty or not.

This would be correct if they were off duty. They were en route to an EMERGENCY call out, these were'nt a group of officers on their way to Mardi Gras, these were officers en route with heavy equipment to provide aid to a disaster area.

And did I understand that right that they were pulled over for going to SLOW in the fast lane?! Sounds like they were blazing a trail to Katrina victims.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not picking on you, or other cops for that matter. I just dont have the opinion that cops are above the law, on duty or not.
Hey nota.....i'm sure this has probably already been asked before, but oh well.
1. do you ever speed when you're off duty in your audi?
2. do you ever speed in your police car when you're not going to a call or pursuing a suspect?
