What kind of non-lethal weapons do you carry? Are bean bag shotguns and tear gas paintball guns common?
IDT he'll answer that one. I do happen to know he carries a rapier-like wit, and his handy-dandy "1001 Dead-Lawyer" joke book, just in case...

you talking about my questions?^^^
cuz if he doens't answer, then he's actually answered.
i think he should be honest with all the questions asked, otherwise he looses his integrity.

nah. not yours. I edited my post. I think he should "address" every question, but, some questions are bound, as that one does, to cross over into the rrealm of "Operations," and IDT he should or will divulge any operational issues or procedures.

well you gotta agree that somethings wrong when you say. YOU can't speed, since I'm a police officer andI'm late to pick up my kid at school, it's ok if I speed.....afterall I'm an experienced driver!

This information is public from my department so I don't mind answering it. We have a few bean bag shotguns, but VERY few. We mostly carry Tasers, this requires additional training. Also, just like most officers we have OC Spray (pepper spray, but worse). There's always the good ole expandable baton, but that CAN be a deadly weapon unlike the others. Tear gas comes with specialized units so I won't get into that.

Hey nota.....i'm sure this has probably already been asked before, but oh well.

1. do you ever speed when you're off duty in your audi?
2. do you ever speed in your police car when you're not going to a call or pursuing a suspect?
Do I purposely drive fast because I believe I can get away with it in my Audi? No. Honestly around here and the roads I drive the traffic is so dense that speeding isnt really an option unless you work midnights. Also around these parts we have automated speed cameras, yes they do issue tickets to cruisers that do not have their lights and sirens on, so speeding can get a bit annoying. I enjoy my car so I am never in a real rush. I figured after paying so much for my sound system I might as well take my time and enjoy it. As for the cruiser I don't speed unless it's because I am pacing a car or trying to catch up to one in order to run the tag, so if I am speeding it is because it is part of my job. You won't find me doing 20 over on my way to Panera Bread I assure you. Most often I am actually going under the speed limit because people see the cruiser and slow wayyyy down, annoying but hey can't blame them.

well i don't drive 20 mph over the limit to panara bread co either, but i do go 15-20 over on the highway if i'm in a hurry....and i'm not traveling that much faster than the other cars, so it's not like i'm "blowing their doors off" as i swoosh by.
i kinda know where the cops like to take radar, so that helps, but you guys can be sneaky sometimes. always helps to be best friends with an attorney!!
but i've been driving a long time and only received 2 tickets...both speeding.
1st one. i had my audi for about 2 weeks, was on the interstate....moving with the speed of traffic and didn't notice i was speeding. officer wasn't impressed with my new car, i guess. maybe i should have winked at him or cried. oh well.
2nd one. it was local and i was on my way to get my daughter a collectible item that had just come to the store. the line was going to form VERY FAST, so i was in a hurry. officer wasn't impressed with that excuse either.

i guess they're never impressed by excuses, i know...my fault.

We've heard em all, the other day I pulled over a girl who claimed she was pregnant and on the way to the hospital because she was having cramps. I stopped her because she made a left turn and cut my cruiser off. At first she kinda had me because I stopped and thought to myself great what do I do now, lookin at her she was a bigger girl so it was hard to tell if she was pregnant. Little light went off in my head, asked her if she needed an ambulance since it was an emergency, all of a sudden she felt much better. Turned out she had a suspended license, arrestable offense here. NO I did not arrest her, but she got some tickets.

As for speeding tickets I don't give many if ANY out. I work a busy area during the night time so there isn't much time to set up and run laser, not that I really would. I focus on people who are driving without licenses or suspended registrations etc. There's nothing wrong with running laser, it's just not my thing.
