i good option is pick up like 10 credits at the local JC, at night. Then u can still work a 9-5, maybe have one class a night, and an off day and ur good. Although to stay as a dependent on health insurance and stuff, i think they require 12.

I believe they are called oregonians.

I would say commit to do college. Michigan Tech is an awesome school there in Michigan where you could get a good education for fairly cheap. If you went into a technical field (engineering, land surveying, computers etc.) you could get hired on at about 15 dollars an hour after your first year of school and that is more than enough to pay for school and life. And for the first year ***** yourself... or do waiter or pizza delivery work.

I have a few friends that go to Michigan Tech on their own dollars and love it. Every summer for the last few years we went to work for the Montana BLM.

Or look for a college that is cheap to live around (housing is usually the biggest cost). Heck I go to Cal Poly on my own dollars. I promise you it was a lot harder for me to move out on my own at 18. Housing prices where I live are obscene (median home price $615000, just like most of california). My first year I delivered pizza (pays as good as management of a fast food place) from 6pm to 2 am (in a cheap car) and had a roommate in a studio. My second year I did computer drafting, my third and fourth years I got nice pay raises. Right now every week I get a job offer for far more than you could make at high stress food service management or car sales (car sales does not have a steady income). But, I went on to get a Master's degree because that is even more money in the long run. At a good state school, your education is only costing you 5-6K a year, that is not that much more than cost of living (which is the bulk of your college expenses). If you can find a way to pay for living on your own, do it with college.

Yer kinda young, so I'll pass on some sage advice... Don't smoke sage, it gives you a headache! Oh, ad, never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys teh pig. In other words: say your piece, if thats what YOU believe, but, don't listen to teh detractors too hard, and spend even LESS time tryN to convince 'em you know what your doing. Once, twice, maybe, then move on, even if they won't.

There, now, doncha feel wiser?
