I'm going to be in Idaho for a week starting on the 22nd, but PDX has got no love for me anymore. I used to work at an office circa del rio, but then Kenny boy went and did some strange things. He's taking the dirt nap now for his sins.

 

Well I'll tell you the truth. Karlmarx car needs a rotary. Audi has probably one of the strongest and toughest clear coats. It is difficlult to make any headway with the PC. The rotary will cut quicker and evenly with skilled hands.

Now i have a rotary. I do not have the ***** to use it. You can damage things fast, and they can be close to unrepairable You can also cut your work time in half.

to put this in perspective, the guy i know of who uses a rotary on his audi's hits it with 2.5 then switches to pc with menzerna fp.

Here is my process on Karlmarx hood.

ssr 2.5 with my most agressive pad x3
ssr 1 with 2nd most agressive pad x2
Pro polish with polish pad x1.

PER SIDE OF THE HOOD! Just to get rid of 70% of the swirls. Yeah 2.5 hours.

This is where a cyclo, or rotary comes in. They can cut quicker, larger areas, and with less product than a pc.

For the rest of the car I cut it back to
SSr 2.5 with yellow pad
ssr 1 with green pad.
Pro polish with finish pad.

I used nearly 4 ounces of ssr 2.5 on the hood, 3 ounces of ssr1.

I was suposed to get a fed ex yesterday but the bastards did not deliver it. So i am having to strech my product to get as good as i can on the car. It will be a big improvement, but not perfect.

 

I've heard that you can damage things fast with a rotary too. That's why I'm afraid to get one for myself or to turn the car over to some guy with a rotary that looks like he just finished taking a half-dozen bong hits.

 

I would buy a junker car, maybe even a car that doesnt run.. but has decent paint on it.. hell you could get one without an engine.. practice to all hell on it.. in different areas, then take it to the dump or resell it

 

I saw a guy in a "convertable" the other day on the way to work. I think it was a Honda Civic of some kind with the top literally chopped off. He had painted with a spray can on the side "Beat-R".

Maybe I'll ask if I can buy that if I see him again.

No I did not I am about 1/3rd of the way through the rest of the car with ssr1, I think i have about 6 more hours of polishing this morning then about 8 hours of interior and exterior detail work.

I should have enough ssr 1 and easilly enough pro polish.

I made it work. I had to scale back the amount i was using. Instead of hitting it with ssr2.5 twice, i am now doing it once, same with ssr 1. If i have to after i finish ssr 1 i will pull it out side and see what areas need more work. then move on to pro polish. Right now I would say on the sides and door it's about a 40% reduction in swirls. with ssr 2.5 and ssr 1, versus the 75-80% on the hood with 2 ssr 2.5 and 2 ssr1


I stopped at midnight last night, and am trying to get the family up and running here so i can get started around 9:30 am.

 

Finished with ssr1, I'll start the polish now.
