e30 BMW 325iX. Find a low-miled one, do any maintenance in needs, turbo, exhaust, wheels, lowered suspension - enjoy.

You may be able to find an early model G35x around that price range. I think they're typically a little more than that, but you never know. It'd be the sedan, not the coupe, if you want AWD, but like you said, RWD is OK so you could expand somewhat. Don't forget about the previous generation BMW 5 series cars too - great cars and they're well within that budget.

The 5 Series would definitely be within that price range, but I would personally go with a 3 Series. I did quite a bit of research when I was considering one of the two; believe me, the 3 Series shouldn't need nearly as much maintenance as the 5 Series. e36's are always a good choice.

I agree with the E36 M3. If not.... get like a 00 + BMW 3 series.

in that price range you can also find a few decent examples of some '02/'03/'04 X-Type jags. there are at least 8-10 in central NJ w/sticks.

Of course, they don't look anywhere near as good as an Audi, but they are AWD, are mannys, and get decent gas mileage. IDK how moddable they are (I do know they're slow-ish, tho, as there aren't any 4.0 X-types w/stick), or any info on relaibility...
