Speeding Ticket
I got a ticket for doing 75 in a 55 in denver. i cannot just pay the ticket because i have a court date. problem is im in texas. i called in and they said i could just write a letter to the judge in place. they said to include my case number, the charges, and my texas address. what else should i tell the judge to smooth him over and cut me some slack?
Mention your Military Affiliation.
Include some reference to your great GPA and how you recently completed your degree (Judges LOVE people who are responsible).
Ummm... #1... It'd help the creative process if we had some clue as to why you were in Denver.
Ummm... #2... Do they have Pre-Paid Legal where you're @? You might wanna look into it. (thats the link for the "standard family" plan, for texas, BTW)

Agreed with AchTTung. Here in NY, you almost always meet the DA first and reductions are made, which the judge formalizes. Call the DA directly in the court and see what arrangements can be made - they have a lot of latitude and are usually the most direct route to a resolution.
In Milwaukee, your first 'court date' is with a Commisioner where you can show 'proof' that your speedo was off at least 2 mph and get the speeding portion, and thus any points, removed. The original fine remains, however..
